Application of CCFES in hand function rehabilitation

Application of CCFES in hand function rehabilitation

Contralaterally controlled functional electrical stimulation (CCFES) is a new type of functional electrical stimulation mode that has emerged in recent years. The affected limb makes similar movements. More and more studies have confirmed that compared with traditional neuromuscular electrical stimulation, CCFES can better promote the recovery of upper limb function in stroke patients.

CCFES features:

1. More emphasis on the patient's voluntary movement awareness;

2. Added a pair of sensing electrodes on the healthy limbs to monitor the active activity of the limbs;

3. When the limbs on the healthy side move, on the basis of the patient's active consciousness, the FES device is guided to stimulate the limbs on the affected side to perform similar movements;

4. The stimulation intensity is proportional to the activity intensity of the healthy limb.

The patient can easily control the extension of the fingers, a change that gives the patient more confidence in recovery.
